Melodies loom over the crowd like the Rocky Mountains rising above the foothills. Heads bob and feet tap to the rhythm of the lyrics that wind their way through the crowd, provoking contemplation. True tales of life and love, of loss and gain and growth, involve the audience to a point of kinship. The power of the crowd mirrors the energy showcasing on stage in the form of singer songwriter Chris Webb. The musical combination of smooth melodies, latin rhythms and progressive rock intoxicates the soul. The listener is transformed from an objective observer to an active participator in a new revival. One that’s never cliché, always thoughtful, and ever-pleasing.
Chris Webb’s musical journey began with a backwards guitar. The desire to strum the six stringed Stratocaster was too strong to alienate the musician from the music. The instrument might have claimed to be made for a right handed artist, but all it needed was the right artist. Webb’s musical prowess now extends beyond the traditional label of singer songwriter. He uses a unique song writing style infused with complex chords and intricate melodies.
Denver is where Webb calls home and performs ferociously in the Metro area. A graduate of CU-Boulder’s School of Music Webb’s musical accomplishments include sharing marquees with Sister Hazel, Leftover Salmon, The Big Wu and The Samples. He has received airtime on Denver’s 99.5 the Mountain, performed on 97.3 KBCO Studio Sessions and appeared on 9 News Denver’s Music Showcase.
A certain passive, upbeat assuredness grips Webb. Music is an outlet and a conduit through which life can be passed. Music is everything.
